http://www.narusimu.com/forum/index.php?topic=75.0 :
This is to answer m4r1us' question that he somewhy deleted after asking it in this board. He asked why Narusimu, as a future MMOARPG, has no downloadable standalone client and why it runs in the webbrowser instead on PCs.
There are 4 main reasons as to why the game runs in the browser.
- The performance of a webclient and a downloadable standalone client is the exact same. When you press M the game goes full-screen and looks exactly like a downloadable standalone client would. In the future there will also be graphics settings.
- Dynamic resource loading. The game will only download what you need and not the entire game. This is interesting for people with a bad connection that have limited bandwidth.
- Accessibility. The Unity plug-in installs itself very easily and without administrator rights, so the game becomes instantly playable on any computer. In schools, in libraries, you name it.
- Promotion. Obviously, people playing on the website makes the website more popular. That's never a bad thing.
If someday we experience limits because of the webclient, I won't hesitate to port the game to a downloadable standalone client.
A simulator is when you try to get something and make it a game and make players experience it as if they're in the world its self.
The game is going to be an mmo like it was aimed for Shinobi Risings to be..
incase you have anymore questions, please post them on that forum, Thank you !

Re: We are Still Working...
Oh and, i also have spoke to Aravin, a great developer of a DBZ game.
I spoke to him about wether having a game on a browser will limit its potential, graphically or with fps/lag issues.
The anwser was no.
But he said it might have a major problem which is if a player deleted the cache from his browser, resulting in a loss of data.
I went back to Vreg and asked him about this possible issue and he said yes he had that in mind, but he programmed it in a way where this issue is not to occur.

Well, yeah; in theory, it works... But, when applied, that programming may develop some errors or bugs... There's no telling whether his programming will work on a larger timeline, or even on a shorter timeline...Saitou wrote:Oh and, i also have spoke to Aravin, a great developer of a DBZ game.
